If you love small-town charm and walkable streets, Downtown Lee’s Summit is such a gem. Think brick walls, cute awnings, shop windows, and evening light that spills down the sidewalks just right.
It’s perfect for families who want a relaxed, lifestyle feel — and if your crew wants to grab ice cream after, all the better. It’s one of those places where everyone feels at ease, and the genuine smiles show it.
2. James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area
For families who love nature, this is one of the most versatile spots in the area. With open fields, tree-lined paths, and water features, James Reed offers endless possibilities.
It’s especially great for playful sessions with little ones — plenty of room to explore and just be themselves. The variety here means we can capture a mix of textures and tones, from soft grass to shimmering water, all in one session.
3. Charles David Hartman Memorial Park
This park feels like a tucked-away treasure. With a shallow creek running through and peaceful wooded walkways, it’s a wonderful spot for families who want something a bit more organic and adventurous — without going too far off the beaten path.
It’s the kind of place where kids can skip rocks or explore the short trails after, making it both beautiful and family-friendly.
4. Unity Village (Premium Location)
If you’re after something a little more polished and timeless, Unity Village is where it’s at. The Spanish-influenced architecture, arched walkways, and English-style curated gardens create a sense of quiet elegance that photographs beautifully year-round.
This is a classic and uniquely Kansas City option. You’ll enjoy your time here!
5. Powell Gardens (Premium Location)
Okay, technically this one’s a short drive from Lee’s Summit — but oh, is it sooo worth it.
One of my personal favorite locations ever, Powell Gardens offers miles of walking paths, flower fields, and stunning curated garden spaces that change with the seasons. I offer morning or late afternoon sessions here, as staff take the evening off. If you love color, texture, and the feeling of being surrounded by nature — this location is a dream.
