“What should we wear!?” is my most frequent of frequent Q’s. And for good reason! You want to look your best, you want to be efficient in the getting ready process, and you understand that wardrobe has a lot to say in the finished look of your photos.
For my Kansas City families, I’m here to answer aaaallll the nuances, chat individual outfits, and how to tie in colors in various ways. I’ll talk patterns and solids and neutrals with you. If needed, I’ll help you source specific pieces you’re looking for.
We’ll also consider what you want to DO with your photos, because colors and textures play into the entire look of your final images. You may plan to hang frames — and you’ll need the wardrobe to complement your home. I’ll be a text or zoom call away from you as you put together the family wardrobe.
But there’s ONE piece that is more important to me than all the rest. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. (And again!)
It’s YOUR outfit, mama. I want you to feel the most comfortable, the most confident, and truly enjoy what you’re wearing — feeling your best self the day of our session.
Fit matters, comfort matters, and plain ol’ enjoyment matters! Settling mama’s outfit FIRST helps the rest fall into place nearly effortlessly. This provides the 2-3 colors we can build the full wardrobe on, which tones of neutral we’ll lean for the family, and the general type of style.
You might find a favorite in your closet. Or, it might be time to treat yourself to a fresh choice. Try options that showcase your personality and family style. It might be a formal gown or an elevated maxi dress you’ve been eyeing. But it doesn’t have to be a dress. A stylish pant or well-paired jeans are also great bases to your look.
When you’re ready to build your the wardrobe for your Kansas City family Fall photos, remember: choose for YOU first. Your photographer told you to!
