The BEST Restaurants for Your KC Mother’s Day Brunch

By Joanna Goodman

Whether you have a mother, are married to one, or ARE one, Mother’s Day is a day that deserves celebration! Your motherhood seasons grow and change. No matter which one you find yourself in, this season is worthy of reflection. Mothers around you are worthy of your encouragement. Mothers who love you are worthy of your thanks. If you’re a mom, that includes celebrating yourself. Let someone else do the cooking and dishes while you spend time with those that matter most.

Kansas City has an array of restaurant offerings that would do the job nicely. Mother’s Day Brunch is always a delightful choice. Some places regularly have brunch menus, while others choose one or two days a year to offer this special meal. With this curated KC list, you can’t go wrong.

Heirloom Bakery & Hearth

A short drive from downtown Brookside, Scott and Kate Meinke opened the doors to this charming bakery on a Mother’s Day weekend, making it a special time to visit. Enjoy house made baked goods and hearty breakfasts, the kids love trying their pop tarts! Pleasantly casual and spilling over with sunlight and houseplants, this is a fun choice for young families.

Trezo Mare

A North KC favorite, enjoy the brunch buffet, only offered select times during the year. Boasting a delicious brunch menu which includes a kid’s bar, seafood, breakfast offerings, and dessert, you’ll want to book now. Consider asking for patio seating if the weather is fine.

The Westside Local

On a hilltop that peeks over the Crossroads, this farm-to-table eatery is well worth a visit. With their own take on brunch (affectionately called “Blunch”) you’ll find something to please everyone. Westside local features traditional breakfasts, and novelties such as Fried Cauliflower Tacos and a Vegan Burger. You can walk-in or reserve online.

Lidia’s Kansas City

Nestled in the Crossroads, Lidia’s runs a special brunch on Mother’s Day only. Known for it’s italian cuisine, Lidia’s has perfected some breakfast favorites, too. This restaurant also has ample room for a larger group, if you’re organizing for the extended family, too. Reservations encouraged.

Pierpont’s at Union Station

Elevated brunch here might include cinnamon roll coffee cake, baked oysters, or a spin on the traditional french toast (think white chocolate meets brioche). Enjoy some hot Roasterie coffee or indulge in an espresso martini, all while surrounded by Pierpont’s particular brand of ambient luxury. Reservations encouraged.

Harvey’s

Neighbor to Pierpont’s, Harvey’s is an excellent place to linger over a mimosa, especially if you can snag a rooftop table. You’ll have the best views inside Union Station. From carved prime rib to eggs benedict, you’ll find an assortment for parents and kids to enjoy. Reservations encouraged.

Rye

For upscale plates and atmosphere that celebrate American cuisine, step into Rye. The original restaurant is in Leawood, or visit the lovely Plaza location. Enjoy family favorites such as biscuits and gravy, or try the dish that gives a nod to KC: Burnt End Hash. Reservations recommended for up to 7 people, larger parties should reserve a private dining room.

As a local family and newborn photographer, I’m all about your family connections. Make this Mother’s Day a treat for mom. Enjoy some delicious food and beautiful memories around KC!
