Small Business Saturday Itineraries Around Kansas City

The Smallest of Saturdays means the world to your local businesses when you choose to celebrate the holidays by pouring back into your own city’s families – our small businesses! Think small this Saturday and shop local.

I’ve gathered some favorites from a few of our city’s neighborhoods and towns for you to enjoy, wander through, and support – even as they become new pieces of your family story in our city. Enjoy these possible itineraries that make me want to join alongside you.

Prairie Village

Charming as always, the open air markets of Prairie Village are tasteful and teaming with gifts and goodness. First a stop at Corinth Square, where you can visit Clover Boutique, a gem of women’s clothing, accessories, and gifts. Curated in a way that feels both luxurious and accessible, their pieces are thoughtfully chosen to support local design preferences while giving shoppers a true boutique experience.

A short drive up the road to The Shops of Prairie Village you’ll enjoy RSVP in the Village – a stationary and gift shop nestled by Dolce Bakery. Personalize your gifts and enjoy some of the best products around (in both shops!)

Stop in around the corner at the French Market. You’ll feel relaxed in the old world ambiance and indulge in impeccable food. You definitely can’t go wrong with a morning in the Village.

Brookside

Brookside remains one of my absolute favorites for Small Business Saturday — it’s where charm meets community. One of the most beloved Brookside institutions is Brookside Toy & Science. This isn’t your average toy store — it’s been family-owned for over 60 years, and its legacy is woven deeply into the community. Now, under Holly Pollard’s leadership (she purchased the business in 2019), the shop continues to embrace both nostalgic favorites — think classic LEGOs, slinkies, beloved board games — and modern, curious science kits that spark wonder in little ones. Parents love it for more than the inventory: the staff are toy experts, able to guide you toward meaningful, age-appropriate personalized gifts.

Just a few doors down is Lauren Alexandra, a boutique that feels like stepping into a dreamy nursery scene. This shop specializes in baby clothing and accessories, offering beautifully made pieces that feel as timeless as they are practical. And don’t miss a cozy pause at The Roasterie Café on Brookside Boulevard. This café is more than just a coffee stop: it’s a neighborhood institution. The owners, Danny and Carla O’Neill, have deep roots here, and the café often doubles as a gathering place or workspace for the community.

Leawood

Begin your Small Business Saturday in the refined, stroll-friendly atmosphere of Park Place in Leawood. This open air destination feels like a little walkable Main Street, with beautifully designed storefronts, green gathering spaces, and a calm, elevated vibe. It’s a tucked away gem of the city, for sure!

One of my favorite stops here is Pink Antlers. The mother and daughters team that owns this boutique curates paper goods, party supplies, home décor, and gifts with such style and meaning. I’m a little biased, as I’ve worked with the owners on branding photos, so I’ve gotten to see firsthand how much they care about your experience and the quality of your home products. It truly is one of the most thoughtfully curated shops I’ve been in.

Take a walk around the rest of Park Place while you’re there, or stop in at the ice rink in the center of the neighborhood.

Lee’s Summit

In old downtown Lee’s Summit, under a charming awning sits KD’s Books. This small bookstore has been a community staple for decades, offering a mix of children’s books, puzzles, games, and thoughtful gifts. It’s refreshing to chat with owners who care about your child’s experience with literature and can answer any questions you may have.

Just a few minutes drive away, stop by the Made in KC Marketplace in Lee’s Summit. This beautifully curated shop showcases local artisans, makers, and small-batch creators — a place where every purchase supports a local artist and feels rich in story and craft. Enjoy a snack break and a drink at the cafe.

Just south of Lee’s Summit, Greenwood offers a row of renowned local antique stores. Spend time getting lost in the past, finding the unexpected vintage item, or perfect piece of restored furniture.

Shop Small

There are sooooo many more opportunities to shop Small this season, and every little bit reinvested with a neighbor means so much more for our communities than we realize. Enjoy finding some of the greatest artwork, baked goods, and curated products right under our very noses – in our local shops.

If you need another local gift idea, consider purchasing a Gift Card from me – and blessing your family and friends with the gift of capturing memories and life seasons.
