The Top 5 Kansas City Pumpkin Patches

There is something about a pumpkin patch that makes Fall feel official. Whether your family wants an entire afternoon of activities, apple cider donuts worth making the drive for, or simply a pretty farm where you can wander around and soak up the season, there are plenty of Kansas City pumpkin patches to choose from. Here are five of the best to put on your fall list.

Faulkner’s Ranch | South Kansas City, Missouri

If your kids like a LOT to do, Faulkner’s Ranch makes an easy fall outing without leaving Kansas City. Their Pumpkin Festival opens October 2, 2026, with more than 30 activities, farm animals, wagon rides, slides, festive food and, of course, pumpkins. There are also additional attractions available for an extra cost, including pony rides, a zip line, corn cannon and mechanical bull. This is a good pick when you want more than a quick pumpkin stop and are perfectly happy letting the kids burn some energy while you soak up a beautiful fall day. Even with all the attractions, the small family business feel of Faulkner’s keeps it feeling like a neighborhood outing.

Johnson Farms | Belton, Missouri

Johnson Farms is one of those Kansas City pumpkin patches where you can easily make an afternoon of it. This third-generation family farm in Belton combines U-pick produce with more than 30 attractions, including hayrides, a corn maze, jumping pillows, farm animals, big slides, corn pits, games and play areas. Depending on when you visit, you may also find apple picking, sunflowers and flowers, with extra attractions on fall weekends. I especially like this option for families and homeschool outings. I’m a visit-during-the-week-to-avoid-the-crowds girlie and this is my first choice for our family. Some years we’ve closed the place down and there’s nothing like letting the kids eek out the last of their energy on the giant jumping pillows while a cool breeze blows and we take in a glorious Kansas Sunset. Calm down, Missouri, I love you. I have to say Kansas because from there we know we’re watching it set across State Line!

Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch | Liberty, Missouri

Carolyn’s Pumpkin Patch in Liberty is another full-fledged fall destination for families. Admission includes favorites like a train ride, carousel, petting barn and wagon ride out to the pumpkin field, along with plenty of other kid-friendly attractions. This is a good choice when you want pumpkins, food, cute photo opportunities and enough activities to keep everybody occupied for a good chunk of the day. It feels like a bit of a drive getting out there, but then you get the lovely feeling of having stepped away from the city for a bit.

Louisburg Cider Mill | Louisburg, Kansas

Let’s be clear: if the food is an important part of your fall outing, Louisburg Cider Mill deserves serious consideration. I remember holding the kids up to watch the donuts moving along the line as they cooked in front of us behind the glass. These types of things still seem magical to me. Expect pumpkins, a corn maze and plenty of seasonal family fun, but fresh apple cider and cider donuts are a pretty convincing reason to make the drive all by themselves. Their popular Ciderfest adds even more of that classic fall festival atmosphere with cider making, donuts, vendors and family activities. Come for the pumpkins. Stay because you decided one cider donut wasn’t enough.

Weston Red Barn Farm | Weston, Missouri

For a more picturesque, traditional farm experience, Weston Red Barn Farm is a great excuse to turn your pumpkin patch visit into an entire fall day in Weston. The farm has more of an authentic working-farm feel, with farm animals, a country store, pumpkins, hayrides and other seasonal activities. It is a particularly good choice if you’d rather have a scenic fall outing than a giant amusement-style attraction, and then spend a little more time exploring Weston while you’re there, one of KC’s hidden gem of a town.

Honorable Mention: Fun Farm | Kearney, Missouri

If your children hear “pumpkin patch” and interpret that as an invitation to RUN, Fun Farm in Kearney is worth knowing about. This is an activity-heavy destination with pumpkins, farm animals, seasonal treats and plenty of room for kids to play. I would put this one high on the list for active kids and families who want to spend several hours outside and don’t mind high intensity (or even love it!). Choose a weekend where the weather is finally not 100 degrees out. We’re almost there!

Honorable Mention: KC Pumpkin Patch | Olathe, Kansas

KC Pumpkin Patch in Olathe goes BIG on the activities, with dozens of farm attractions, pumpkins, animals, slides and plenty of fall-themed entertainment. This one feels less like “let’s swing by and grab a pumpkin” and much more like a full family entertainment destination. Expect to spend time, and think of your trip here more along the lines of an amusement park meets pumpkin spice goodness.
