What to Expect During Your Lifestyle Newborn Session

Getting ready to welcome a new baby into the family is an exciting season. It’s worth celebrating and capturing the connections you and yours are building. Lifestyle Newborn sessions with my families are all about baby and the family connection, usually taking around two hours. I want you to know what you’re in for, and why I love this type of Newborn session.
The Comfort of Your own Home
With the amount of time we’ve all spent at home so far in 2020, you may be thinking you’re a little tired of the walls around you. However, I know that as you settle into nesting and then bring your own sweet baby into the world, home is where you’ll want to be. There’s nothing quite so luxurious as having a service brought to your door. Whether it’s a massage table or a Target order, in the days after Baby arrives it’s all the more welcome. When I arrive with my camera bag, you’ll love staying in for this photo session. Having your newborn photography in-home is all the more special because this is the haven you’ve created for your child, and the beginning of many memories in the same space.
Safe Posing
As a Lifestyle photographer, I love true-to-life moments and natural poses. During my newborn sessions, Baby spends most of the time on Mama or Dad’s arm. When we snag some alone shots, I only use safe and natural posing techniques. I also find that this helps me to capture the uniqueness of your child, and their genuine responses and movements in various safe positions.
Baby&Mama Led
While I always show up with a custom plan for our session, I leave intentional space and flexibility to suit the needs of Baby and Mama. We go at your pace. We break for feedings (or anything you need), but my camera keeps clicking. I want this time to be relaxing for your whole family. You’re connecting with your newest little human, it’s an amazing season. It can also be exhausting. This is your time to enjoy a pause and celebrate the sweetness of family and newborn life, at a pace that’s tailored to you.
Sweet Family Moments
Newborn sessions may feature Baby, but this is a special time for your entire immediate family. I love capturing how siblings interact with their new brother, watch Dad beaming at his baby girl, or see the light in Mama’s eyes as she watches her children together. Stilling time for just a moment will mean the world to you as we catch the genuine connection of your family during this season.
Don’t Worry About the Dishes
Mama, at our session you will have just had a baby. I don’t want you worrying about all the other things. During an in-home session I usually photograph in one or two locations. I can easily clear some books away or move a pile if I need to. I know you’ve been nesting. I know you love the ideal of a tidy home when you’re inviting someone new inside. But let’s skip past that step and get comfortable. I can’t wait to celebrate the joy of new life in your home, and it doesn’t matter a bit if the dishes are clean.
I love newborns, and watching their families surround them with love and joy. All from the comfort of your home, as Baby and Mama set the pace, you’ll enjoy precious family moments. I’m all about safe natural posing, and creating a relaxing session that you and you can settle into.
